DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Rapids say defender Anthony Wallace is expected to miss six to nine months after tearing the Achilles tendon in his left leg during practice Sunday.

He is scheduled to have surgery Thursday.

Wallace had only recently recovered from microfracture surgery on his right knee.

FC Dallas traded the 23-year-old defender to the Rapids in 2010 for a fourth-round pick in the 2011 draft and a conditional pick in 2012.

Wallace was part of the Rapids team that captured the club's first MLS Cup in 2010.
