we are in a process of buying a home in Poppleton dr. , West Bloomfield, MI 48324. The house is going for about $150K and we thought we got a pretty good deal. But then we learned on Zillow, Trulia and other websites, that the houses right next to "our" went for $115K and $130K. Plus some other houses in the same or the next street were also sold for a seemingly low prices. We are surprised and to be honest, a little bit worried. Is there something we don't know about this particular neighborhood, and how can we investigate?
We thought the West Bloomfield is a so-to-say prestigious neighborhood for a middle class, good schools, etc... much better than e.g. Waterford where we also looked to buy before. You can see it on this very same website, the average prices went UP this year, from $180K (2011) to $210K.
We are checking the resources on the internet, home prices, school ratings, crime index... everything seem to be OK, except the home prices in this particular area.?
It would be the best if anyone knows anything about this particular area/street, something we should know before we buy, because it still might not late to pull out. If not, what else should we do in our research?
