Start your engines! Anki Drive gets official, on sale October 23

First demonstrated way back at WWDC 2013, the Anki Drive iPhone integrated car racing set will finally go on sale on October 23 for $199. Anki Drive uses artificial intelligence combined with the instructions coming from an iOS app connected to each car to control the on track action, and as Anki stated back in June, it's a "video game for the real world."

The starter kit will come complete with the track, and 2 cars to race on it. Additional cars will be available to purchase separately, at a cost of $69 each. The iOS app has been available for some time now, but hasn't yet been updated for controlling the cars.

When Anki showed off Anki Drive in front of the packed crowd in San Francisco, it received rapturous applause. It may be pricey, but it showed an incredible new concept, and yet another new implementation of iOS devices. As a racing fan, I'd love to get my hands on an Anki Drive set, but alas, initial sales will be limited to the U.S. via the Anki store or your local Apple Store. Anyone picking one up?
